Jerusalem is one of the few places in the world where three different monotheistic religions are in practice. Those three are Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

It is home to the Western Wall, the holiest site for those of Jewish faith. There is also the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the site where Jesus of Nazareth was said to have been crucified and buried. Finally, there is also the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site for those of Islamic faith.

Apart from the religious and historical aspect of it, Jerusalem also has magnificent architecture and a shopping bazaar where you can buy souvenirs.

2. To sail on the Sea of Galilee

Nothing beats sailing the Sea of Galilee, enjoying the beautiful sunrise and hearing about stories happened in the ancient time, how Jesus walked on water.

Sailing on the Sea of Galilee is a must for every tourist visiting Israel whether the purpose of visit is to strengthen one’s faith, learn history, study the regions geography, or just enjoy a sunrise, sunset or moonlight sail.

3. To see diverse landscapes

Apart from the great weather, Israel is also home to some of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes in the world. There is the Negev Desert, Galilee with its verdant, green landscapes, and Mouth Hermon, which is blanketed in snow.

4. To taste the food

From street eats to fine dining, the food there is diverse and delicious. A favorite is the kebab, which is ground meat combined with parsley, onions, and garlic and then skewered and grilled. There is also authentic shwarma, which is grilled meat, usually turkey, cooked on a vertical grill and served with vegetables in a pita wrap.

Don’t forget to try hummus. It’s a simple, but filling dish made of mashed chickpeas with salt, cumin, garlic, lemon juice, and tahini. It’s served with pita, which you use to scrape it off the plate. Israel claims to be the hummus capital of the world, so it’s definitely a must-try.

5. To experience the night life in Tel Aviv

It’s been called the “Mediterranean Capital of Cool”. The place is filled with beaches that stretch for miles along the western edge of the city. And each shore brings a different experience. Not to mention the city is filled with UNESCO World Heritage Sites that praise the buildings and their gorgeous architecture.

And when the sun goes down, the nightlife is vibrant. Tel Aviv’s bars and clubs are plentiful. From small neighborhood bars, to underground bars, to beach bars, there’s sure to be one that suits your tastes.

6. To float and get muddy in the Dead Sea

Finally, there’s the Dead Sea, which is the lowest point on Earth. It’s also one of the world’s saltiest bodies of water, eight times saltier than any ocean.

The amount of salt in the water makes people’s bodies extremely buoyant. Most people who take a dip simply lean back and let the water whisk them away.

The mud is also said to have healing properties and be great for your skin. A lot of people go here to cover themselves with the mud, which is often bottled up and sold at high prices elsewhere.
